Wesley Melson has extensive work experience in the emergency response and medical services field. Wesley is currently serving as the President of the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads, a position they started in 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, including Paramedic & Life Member, President & CEO, and Rescue Chief.
In 2016, Melson worked as the Chief Operations Officer & Division Chief at Lifecare Medical Transports. Before that, they served as an Educational Consultant at Health Educators, Inc, where they were responsible for teaching American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support courses.
Melson also has experience as a Lieutenant - Firefighter/Paramedic at the Caroline County Department of Fire and Rescue, where they performed supervisory duties and oversaw operational tasks related to fire suppression and emergency medical services. Additionally, they worked as an Assistant Director of Communications at the County of Stafford, where they supported and assisted in the supervision of the Emergency Communications Center.
Wesley Melson attended the University of Virginia from 2006 to 2007, where they studied Organizational Leadership. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2004, they obtained an Associates in Emergency Care, specializing in Paramedic, from an undisclosed institution.
