Joe Steele

Joe Steele is the Senior Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs at LIFT. Joe has over 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, and engagement. Prior to joining LIFT, Joe was the Communications Manager at Ally Financial Inc., where they increased employee intranet readership and facilitated enterprise-wide communications and engagement initiatives. Joe also shaped strategy on a variety of work, including social media engagement, community relations, and third-party relationships. Joe has also served as the Vice President of Public Relations at Sunny Media Group and as the Public Affairs Lead at AT&T Michigan. In these roles, they created and managed communication plans, developed new intranet sites, produced videos for internal training and engagement, and directed communications for Human Resources functions. Joe’s experience in corporate communications has resulted in higher employee engagement and stronger relationships with key stakeholders.

Joe Steele has a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications/Journalism from Michigan State University and a Diploma in College Prep from Detroit Catholic Central.

Joe Steele reports to Nigel Francis, CEO & Executive Director. They work with Victor Claudio - CFO, Phaedra Wainaina - Director, of EWD, and Noel Mack - CTO. Some direct reports include Felipe Perea - Events Coordinator, Mike Brody - External Extended Enterprise.
