Tina Hernandez is an experienced education leader with a strong focus on equity and academic success for Black and Latinx students. Currently serving as Chief Academic Officer at Lighthouse Community Public Schools since June 2014, Tina designs systems to empower students from deep East Oakland to achieve college readiness. Previous roles include K-8 Equity-Centered School Leader at Lighthouse, K-5 Founding Principal at Aspire College Academy, and Resident Principal at Berkley Maynard Academy, where Tina emphasized rigorous instructional practices and teacher support. In addition, Tina has held teaching positions at Chabot College and California State University - East Bay, contributing expertise in English and African American literature. A Master's degree from California State University - East Bay underscores Tina's academic proficiency and commitment to educational equity.
