Samantha Eells

Samantha Eells has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Samantha began their career in 2006 as a Research Associate at Emory University, where they worked with bacterial samples and utilized various techniques to determine strain types. In 2007, they joined the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute as a Program Coordinator, overseeing the management of study coordinators and research assistants, along with setting up and managing a microbiology laboratory. Samantha later became the Director of Clinical Research Solutions, where they managed a clinical trials unit and collaborated with principal investigators to develop effective recruitment strategies.

In 2011, Samantha joined the University of California, Los Angeles as an Assistant Faculty Researcher in the Department of Medicine. Samantha worked on the development, planning, and implementation of clinical trials and epidemiologic studies, collaborating with multiple departments and institutions.

In 2015, Samantha joined Science 37 as the COO, playing a pivotal role in company operations, particularly in clinical trial operations and business development strategy. In 2016, they transitioned to the role of VP of Clinical Solutions, responsible for proposal development, budgeting for study opportunities, and FDA regulatory planning.

Most recently, Samantha co-founded Lightship in 2018 and currently holds the position of Co-Founder.

Samantha Eells received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UC San Diego in 2005, after which they pursued their Master's in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at Emory University from 2005 to 2007. Samantha continued their education at UCLA, where they enrolled in a Doctoral Program in Epidemiology from 2012 to 2017.
