Mariel Waller-van den Hengel has over 25 years of experience in marketing and sales management. Mariel began their career in 1993 at KPN in the Netherlands, where they held various marketing and sales management positions. In 1998, they moved to Unilever as a Marketing Manager. In 2004, they became the owner of Fashion Brands USA, an e-commerce business in Los Angeles, USA. In 2010, they became the Marketing Director for The China Greentech Initiative, a consultancy platform. In 2011, they were the Marketing Director for Sports Beijing, the largest multi-sports organization in Beijing. From 2012 to 2018, they worked as a Marketing Manager/Consultant, developing and executing digital/social media marketing plans for various clients. In 2018, they became the Marketing Manager for LightWerks Communication Systems, where they were responsible for developing and executing digital/social media marketing strategies in accordance with LightWerks objectives and budgets.
Mariel Waller-van den Hengel obtained their Masters in Business Administration from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University between 1991 and 1993. Mariel then obtained their BA in Marketing from Erasmus University Rotterdam between 1987 and 1991. In 2012, they attended UCLA Extension for Social Media Marketing. Mariel also attended General Assembly between 2015 and 2016 for Marketing.
