Peter Ajayi

Peter Ajayi has extensive work experience in the legal and corporate sectors. Peter began their career as a Fixed Income Analyst at Fidelity Investments in 2009, where they performed portfolio analysis and market commentary. In 2011 and 2012, Peter worked as a Summer Associate at Ropes & Gray LLP and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, respectively, focusing on Investment Funds, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Financing.

Peter then joined BNP Paribas CIB as a Secondee in the Corporate & Institutional Banking Legal Department, where they served as the principal attorney for a novel investment project. Peter negotiated investment agreements, solved regulatory issues, and managed capital markets transactions.

In 2013, Peter returned to Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as a Corporate Associate. Peter represented underwriters, public and private issuers in capital markets transactions, including IPOs, bond offerings, and acquisition financing. Peter also advised on compliance matters and played a key role in drafting principal documents.

Starting in 2019, Peter served as a Senior Corporate Counsel at Marqeta, Inc. Here, they provided legal advice to various internal and external stakeholders on critical issues. Notably, they led a successful $1.2 billion IPO, managed SEC filings, developed roadshows, conducted compliance training, and negotiated with underwriting syndicates.

Currently, Peter Ajayi holds the position of Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Lilac Solutions, Inc.

Peter Ajayi attended Polytechnic Preparatory Country Day School from 1997 to 2005. Peter then went on to Harvard University, where they obtained an A.B. degree in Government, graduating in 2009. Subsequently, they pursued their Juris Doctor degree at New York University School of Law from 2010 to 2013.
