Jean-Eric Lacoste

Research Scientist II at Prometic Biosciences at Liminal BioSciences

Jean-Eric Lacoste has a strong background in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry. Jean-Eric started their career as a Teacher at Petit Seminaire de Quebec Campus Outaouais in 1998. Jean-Eric then transitioned to the chemical industry, starting as a Research associate at Les Produits Chimiques DELMAR Inc. where they were involved in large-scale synthesis of intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients. Jean-Eric also updated Standards Operation Procedures and conducted multi-gram synthesis of compounds under cGMP.

In 2000, Lacoste joined Shire BioChem as a Research Associate II, where they continued their work on large-scale synthesis of intermediate or active pharmaceutical ingredients.

In 2003, they moved to Boehringer Ingelheim Canada Limited as a Research associate and later became a Research Associate I. In this role, they contributed to the go/no go decision-making process for hits in the Hit-to-Lead department. Jean-Eric also developed new synthetic routes and contributed to the SAR (Structure-Activity Relationship) of molecules of biological interest.

Starting in 2013, Lacoste joined OmegaChem Inc. as a Senior Research Scientist 1, where they supervised a small group and continued their work on large-scale synthesis of intermediate or active pharmaceutical ingredients. Jean-Eric also developed new synthetic routes and contributed to the scale-up of compounds of interest.

In 2016, Lacoste joined Vertex Pharmaceuticals as a Research Scientist, where they again focused on large-scale synthesis, multi-gram synthesis of building blocks, and the development of large-scale synthesis of intermediate or active ingredients.

Most recently, Lacoste has been working at Liminal BioSciences since 2017 as a Research Scientist II at Prometic Biosciences. Their responsibilities include large-scale synthesis of intermediate or active pharmaceutical ingredients and multi-gram synthesis of building blocks. Jean-Eric is also involved in the development of large-scale synthesis of intermediate or active ingredients.

Jean-Eric Lacoste obtained an MSc degree in Chemistry from UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal. Jean-Eric pursued their education from 1995 to 1997 at this institution.
