Ian Knott

Regulatory and Governance Affairs Lead at Little Journey

Ian Knott has worked in a variety of roles across a number of companies. In 2022, they began working as the Regulatory and Governance Affairs Lead at Little Journey, where they are responsible for setting up an ISO 13485 and 9001 accredited quality management system, as well as an ISO 27001 accredited information security management system. Ian also guides the development of product functionality necessary to meet the requirements of their CRO customer base and leads on the generation of supporting documentation for future medical device regulatory submissions.

From 2018 to 2022, Ian worked as the Regulatory and Quality Lead at Motilent, where they initially set up their ISO 13485 accredited Quality Management system and was responsible for its continual improvement and maintenance. Ian was also responsible for determination and execution of Motilent's regulatory strategies including technical file writing and global regulatory submissions.

In 2017, Ian worked as a Medical Device Expert at Walgreens Boots Alliance, where they were responsible for maintenance of the existing own brand medical device portfolio to ensure regulatory compliance and the development of due diligence and regulatory documentation for new medical devices and healthcare inspired general products within the Boots Own Brand portfolio.

From 2014 to 2017, Ian worked at the MHRA as a Regulatory and Policy Advisor (Medical Devices) and a Medical Device Specialist. As a Regulatory and Policy Advisor, they provided guidance to manufacturers and suppliers who appeared to be failing to comply with legislation and was responsible for developing agency policies on key regulatory topics concerning medical device compliance. As a Medical Device Specialist, they provided advice and assistance to manufacturers to minimize the risk their devices have to the end users and patients and ensured manufacturers' quality assurance systems were sufficiently picking up post market trends.

In 2014, Ian worked at RM Education as a Project Coordinator, where they were responsible for the management of IT infrastructure orders for schools all over the country, including the multimillion pound Dudley Refresh program, as well as smaller scale installation orders.

In 2013, Ian worked as a Resort Representative at TUI Travel PLC, where they were in charge of organizing and managing sales and delivery of ‘ski essentials’ and Crystal ski’s extra activities programme in Bad Gastein. Ian also managed supplier relations, accounts and health and safety.

Finally, in 2013, Ian worked at Lester Control Systems as a Quality Assurance Executive, where they managed and assembled bespoke orders for elevator operating controls and demonstrated an ability to learn new skills in a short space of time in order to complete special projects assigned to their department.

Ian Knott attended the University of Birmingham from 2009 to 2012, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Prior to that, they attended Trinity School of John Whitgift, Croydon from 2002 to 2009. Ian also holds certifications in ISO 13485 lead auditor from BSI, and PRINCE 2 Foundation from APMG-International.
