Tina Purkis

Tina Purkis is currently the Executive Director of Human Resources at Liverpool John Moores University. Prior to this, they served as the HR Director for UK & Aircraft Operations at Thomas Cook Airlines Limited from March 2019 to December 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the strategic planning and execution of the people strategy for the company, which included a diverse workforce of 7000 employees and a budget of £1 billion.

Under their leadership, the company saw a successful implementation of a competency and training plan that met business needs and stayed within budget. Tina also partnered with managers to drive talent management, leadership development, apprentice/graduate management, succession and career planning. Additionally, they were responsible for proactive management of local trade union relationships and close liaison with Employee Relations teams to support the company agenda.

Prior to their role at Thomas Cook Airlines Limited, Tina Purkis held various HR positions at companies such as Alliance Boots and Virgin Atlantic Airways. Tina has a proven track record in successfully leading and developing HR teams and driving positive change within organisations.

Tina Purkis has a BA (Hons) in Economics from Northumbria University. Tina is also CIPD certified from St Helens College. Tina has 3 A Levels in Economics, Mathematics and Geography, as well as 9 GCSEs (incl Maths & English). Tina is also certified in Accredited Coach, Prince2, SHL Trained and Six Sigma GreenBelt.

Tina Purkis reports to Mark Power, Vice Chancellor & Chief Executive. They are on a team with Laura Bishop - Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Science, Clare Milsom - Interim Registrar & COO, and Nduka Ekere - Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Engineering & Technology.
