Jeff Hallyburton

Jeff Hallyburton has a diverse work experience with various companies and roles. Jeff started their career in 2010 as a Systems Engineer at Bloomip, Inc., where they provided on-site engineering support for startups in the Cloud Storage, Internet Security, and Big Data industries. Jeff also contributed to the design of a programmatic Nagios monitoring system.

In 2014, Jeff joined DataNet IT as a Systems Administrator, where they were responsible for maintaining labs, resolving system issues, and developing monitoring and reporting systems.

At Thomson Reuters from 2016 to 2018, Jeff served as a Senior Systems Architect for Thomson Reuters DataFusion. Jeff led the redesign of the platform from an on-prem product to a mature cloud-based data integration platform. Jeff'sresponsibilities included AWS architecture, deployment pipeline management, client-facing support, Hadoop stack architecture, and Linux architecture and security.

Returning to Bloomip, Inc. in 2014, Jeff took on the role of DevOps Engineer, introducing iterative development and infrastructure as code practices to different infrastructures. Jeff helped develop a hardened AWS infrastructure for NIST and SOC 2 Compliance.

In 2018, Jeff joined Aquent as a DevOps Engineer, pioneering the DevOps transition as the first platforms/infrastructure engineer embedded with development teams. Jeff'sfocus was on increasing velocity around AWS infrastructure, change control, tooling/configuration management, and transitioning from CI+ to CD.

Starting in 2019, Jeff worked at Density as a Senior DevOps Engineer, Staff Engineer (DevOps/SRE), and eventually as an Engineering Manager. Jeff contributed to AWS security, architecture, and sustainable infrastructure practices.

Currently, Jeff is employed at LoanStreet Inc. as a Staff Engineer and Director of Engineering - Infrastructure & Security since 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Jeff Hallyburton's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from the University of North Carolina Asheville. Jeff attended this institution from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, they pursued further education at Arizona State University from 2020 to 2024, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Software Engineering.

In terms of certifications, Jeff obtained an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services in November 2017. Jeff also holds an AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate certification from AWS NZ, which they obtained in October 2018.
