Matt Josephs

SVP, Policy at Local Initiatives Support

Matt Josephs has worked in community development for over 10 years. Matt started their career as a Community Development Specialist with the City of San Diego, where they helped to promote economic mobility and community development within low to moderate-income families and communities. In this role, Matt was responsible for designing operational processes, standardizing forms, and developing performance metrics to support microenterprise and small business development in coordination with partner agencies. Matt also conducted quantitative analysis to inform decisions, produced summaries and graphics to increase public knowledge, managed stakeholder relationships, and presented to a community advisory board at monthly meetings.

In 2017, Matt joined Local Initiatives Support as their Senior Vice President of Policy. In this role, they are responsible for leading the organization's policy work and engaging with key partners and stakeholders on policy initiatives that affect low-income communities. Matt continues to work towards their goal of making positive change in the lives of those who need it most.

Matt Josephs has a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University, a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Los Angeles, and an Associate of Arts and Sciences from Riverside City College. Matt is certified from the National Community Development Association in Managing Federal Awards & Grantees, from the National Conflict Resolution Center in Advanced Mediation Skills, and from the Credit Builders Alliance in Credit as an Asset Counseling.
