Jonathan Ali

Jonathan Ali is an experienced film curator and programmer with a diverse background in both festival and freelance environments. Currently serving as the Director of Programming for the Third Horizon Film Festival since April 2016, Jonathan has gained recognition for curatorial excellence, notably praised by Filmmaker magazine. Additionally, Jonathan holds advisory roles for the Locarno Film Festival's Open Doors Programme and the Open City Documentary Festival, alongside co-founding the Twelve30 Collective, which focuses on Caribbean cinema. With contributions as a writer and critic for Caribbean Beat Magazine and a programmer for Alchemy Film & Arts, Jonathan's expertise extends to reviewing for the BFI/DocSociety Documentary Fund and editorial work on notable film projects. Jonathan's academic background includes a Master of Arts in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from Birkbeck, University of London.
