Head of Physics at Lomond School

Alan MacBeath has a diverse work experience, spanning various fields. Alan started their career in 2000 as a Tennis Coach at Alan MacBeath Tennis. In 2004, they worked as a Research Assistant at The University of Glasgow before transitioning to Ethicon Endosurgery as a Research Design Engineer in 2005. In 2008, they joined Lomond School as a Teacher of Mathematics and Physics, eventually becoming the Head of Physics, Head of Digital Strategy and E-Learning, and currently serving as the Head of Faculty. In 2012, they founded Alimacs Tennis and served as its CEO. Alan also worked as a Marker for SQA - Scottish Qualifications Authority since 2017.

Alan MacBeath has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Management Techniques from The University of Edinburgh, which they obtained from 1998 to 2001. Alan also has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Engineering - Ultrasound from the University of Glasgow, earned from 2001 to 2004. Alan completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education with a focus on Mathematics and Physics at the University of Strathclyde from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Lomond School, where they obtained Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications between 1985 and 1998. Additionally, Alan is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Ultrasonics at the University of Glasgow.
