Catherine Phillpotts

Catherine Phillpotts has a diverse work experience in the library field. Catherine started their career as a Library Assistant at Queen Mary & Westfield College in 1988 and later became the Senior Library Assistant at Kings College London in 1990. In 1993, they joined the College of North East London as the Library Resources Co-ordinator. Catherine then worked as a Librarian at English Heritage from 1996 to 2002, where they were in charge of the main staff library and responsible for collection management.

In 2002, Catherine joined the University of London as the Teamleader for Social Sciences and Arts. Catherine managed a small team of subject librarians and oversaw academic liaison and collection management. Catherine later joined the British Motorcyclists Federation as the Director of Political and Technical Support from 2006 to 2011.

From 2007 to 2012, Catherine worked at London Metropolitan University, initially as a Learning Resources Manager and later as the Head of Library Resources & E-Strategy Development. Catherine was responsible for managing the university library, coordinating academic liaison, and overseeing the management of budgets and resources. Catherine then became the Interim Director of Library Services and eventually the University Librarian, where they were responsible for strategic planning, development, and management of library services and special collections.

Catherine Phillpotts completed their education with the following chronological history:

- In 1973-1980, they attended Camden School for Girls, where they obtained 9 O Levels, including English, Latin, German, French, and Maths.

- From 1983-1986, they studied Humanities (Classics & German) at Polytechnic of North London, earning a BA degree.

- In 1983-1984, they pursued A Levels in English Literature and Sociology at Southwark FE College.

- Between 1987-1988, Catherine attended City & East London College, focusing on A Levels in French and German.

- In 1989-1990, they pursued an MA degree in Library & Information Studies at UCL.

Additionally, Catherine holds the certification of MCLIP from CILIP.
