Maxwell Katz

Maxwell Katz has a diverse range of work experience, starting with their current role as a Software Test Engineer at Loop. In this position, they are responsible for testing the company's core application, creating test plans, and refining stories for complex features. Maxwell also promotes process improvements and a culture of testing within the engineering department. Maxwell is knowledgeable in Cypress.io integration testing and API mocking using Mirage.js, and they utilize tools such as CircleCI pipelines and Datadog for application monitoring and deployment.

Prior to their current role, Maxwell worked as a Software Test Engineer at Northwestern Mutual, where they owned testing for various backend microservices within an agile scrum team. Maxwell conducted functional and exploratory testing of multiple REST APIs and created comprehensive test plans and API test cases using Jira and Xray.

Before that, Maxwell was an Associate QA Analyst at Hero Digital, where they collaborated with a remote team on Agile, CMS-based projects. Maxwell wrote and executed manual test cases, leveraged domain knowledge for efficient defect finding, and performed exploratory and black-box testing.

Maxwell gained experience as a QA Engineer Intern at Kretiva, where they executed comprehensive test plans and verified functionality and data integrity using tools such as Postman and MongoDB CLI.

In addition, Maxwell has self-employed experience working on software engineering projects. Maxwell created Hyper Fashion, a dynamic e-commerce front-end built with React and employed React-Router and Redux for state management in a large file structure with deeply nested components.

Before transitioning to a career in software engineering, Maxwell worked as a Locksmith at Paragon Security and Locksmith. Maxwell handled scheduling and dispatching of technicians, programmed smart-locks, and managed complex key systems.

Lastly, Maxwell served as a Teaching Assistant at Charles Stuart School of Locksmithing, where they held lectures and technical demonstrations, provided one-on-one teaching sessions for struggling students, and assisted with class session setup.

Maxwell Katz completed the Software Engineering Immersive program at Hack Reactor, where they obtained their degree in Software Engineering. Maxwell attended Hack Reactor until 2020. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2018, Maxwell studied at the Charles Stuart School of Locksmithing, where they obtained a Locksmith License. Their field of study at the Charles Stuart School of Locksmithing was focused on Locksmithing and Safe Repair.
