M. Donna Uy Barreta has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. M. Donna started their career as a Legal Secretary Assistant at the Law Offices of Torres & Brenner in 1995. In this role, they provided administrative and secretarial support to the firm, handled calendars and scheduled meetings, and assisted with filings and trial preparations. From 2003 to 2005, they worked as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal at the United States Attorney's Office.
In 2005, Barreta joined the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. M. Donna initially worked as a Legal Secretary in the Complex Litigation Division under the Criminal Branch, where they handled matters related to violations of the Business and Professions Code. M. Donna served in this role until 2007 when they were promoted to Administrative Coordinator I, continuing to work with the Complex Litigation Division. M. Donna was also appointed the Office's DOJ, Agency CLETS Coordinator.
In 2015, Barreta was promoted to Administrative Coordinator II, where they continued to provide support to the Consumer and Workplace Protection Section (formerly known as the Complex Litigation Division) with the Criminal Branch. During their time in this role, they also served as the Office's DOJ, Agency CLETS Coordinator.
In 2019, Barreta was promoted again, this time to the position of Supervising Administrative Coordinator III. In this role, they supervised support staff, developed new procedures and policies, and worked closely with attorneys and support staff to provide civil litigation support.
In 2021, Barreta was further promoted to the role of Assistant to the Chief of Criminal and Supervising Administrative Coordinator III. Here, they assisted with personnel utilization, developed and maintained procedural manuals, and helped implement performance standards.
Most recently, Barreta assumed the role of Assistant to the Acting Chief of Criminal and Senior ACA, and then as the Director of Office Administration in the Operations and Finance Branch.
M. Donna Uy Barreta obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Legal Studies, General from Pasadena City College, where they studied from 2000 to 2005. M. Donna then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from the University of Phoenix, completing their studies from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, they hold a certification of AA in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, although the institutions and specific dates of obtaining these certifications have not been provided.
