Vijay Barve is an experienced professional in biodiversity informatics and education, currently serving as the Digitization Project Manager at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County since May 2022. Vijay has been a Regional Support Contractor for Asia at the Global Biodiversity Information Facility since February 2019, providing guidance and mentoring for biodiversity data mobilization. Involved in various academic and scientific roles, Vijay serves as a Visiting Faculty at Université d'Abomey-Calavi and contributes to the MSc Biodiversity Informatics Program. As a Core Team Member and Country Coordinator for National Moth Week, Vijay facilitates biodiversity engagement in India. Additional commitments include membership in the IUCN SSC Butterfly Specialist Group and coordination of diversity initiatives through DiversityIndia.org and the BCS-MCS Community. Vijay holds a PhD in Geographical Information Science from The University of Kansas and advanced degrees in Computer Science from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
