CAMP COUNSELOR

Schedule:

Availability: May 27th to August 2nd. The schedule is Monday through Friday 8 am-3:30 pm, with possible additional hours until 5:30 pm.

Compensation:

$16/hr.

Job Summary

The Camp Counselor is responsible for providing fun, enriching, hands-on learning experiences for Museum campers by leading planned activities centered on the theme of the holiday camps. The Camp Counselor will work to create a fun, educational, and safe space for the campers, while directly modeling and sharing techniques with teenage volunteers and other camp counselors.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Promote the culture and brand of LCM.

  • Project a positive image of the organization to employees, volunteers, guests, and the community.

  • Facilitate daily lessons and explorations.

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for all campers.

  • Set expectations for camp rules and desired behaviors.

  • Communicate with parents and other caregivers about daily plans, paperwork, etc.

  • Communicate with full-time LCM staff about registration, logistics, supplies, etc.

  • Providing guidance, mentorship, and accountability for volunteers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years in an education setting as a teacher, assistant teacher, or a camp counselor

  • At least 1 year of group/classroom management experience

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

  • Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite
