Wayne Camara

Distinguisted Scientist For Measurement Innovation at LSAC

Wayne Camara has extensive work experience in the field of measurement and assessment. Wayne currently works as a Distinguished Scientist for Measurement Innovation at the Law School Admission Council, starting in August 2020. Prior to this, Wayne held various roles at ACT from 2013 to 2020, including serving as the Horace Mann Research Chair and Senior Vice President of Research. At ACT, they provided technical expertise, research leadership, and managed a team of over 120 professionals across multiple departments. Before joining ACT, Wayne worked at the College Board as the Vice President of R&D from 1994 to 2013, where they managed a large team and played a significant role in various initiatives and test redesign projects. Wayne also served as the Associate Executive Director of Science at the American Psychological Association from 1987 to 1994. Wayne began their career as an Associate Research Scientist at HumRRO in 1985 and also worked as a School Psychologist/Adjustment Counselor at the West Bridgewater School System from 1980 to 1982.

Wayne Camara began their education in 1974 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Secondary Education in 1978. Following this, from 1978 to 1980, they attended Rhode Island College and obtained a Master of Science degree in Educational Measurement. Wayne then continued their education at Rhode Island College from 1980 to 1982, where they obtained a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in School Psychology. Finally, from 1983 to 1986, they attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they earned a Ph.D. in Psychology.
