Maria Gloria Dominguez-Bello

Scientific Advisor at LUCA Biologics

Dr. Maria Gloria Dominguez-Bello is the Henry Rutgers Professor of Microbiome and Health (in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology) and of Anthropology at Rutgers. Previously, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Microbiology, an IDSA fellow, and has been a member of 7 journal editorial boards (currently of mBio and Nature Scientific Reports). She works on the ancestral and the early microbiome and studies its impacts and restoration. Dr. Dominguez-Bello has a BSc in Ecology, an MSc in Animal Nutrition, and a PhD in Microbiology. Dr Dominguez-Bello is also the Interim Director of the Institute for Food Nutrition and Health (IFNH) at Rutgers University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and serves on the editorial board of several biomedical journals. She has over 120 scientific publications with synergistic multidisciplinary collaborators in Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Tanzania, Spain, Belgium, and the USA.
