Garrett Birkel

Garrett Birkel has over 18 years of software development experience, starting with Learning in Motion as a Web/Multimedia Developer in 2003. Garrett then worked as a Senior Build Engineer at Apple, leading the development and design for a software test system. After leaving Apple in 2011, Birkel worked as a Software Developer at Joint BioEnergy Institute, until they became the first hire in the computing department at Demetrix in 2017. At Demetrix, they built a lab information management system from scratch and collected data, drove robots and instruments, ran analyses, and performed other tasks until October 2022. In 2023, they joined LULA as a Software Developer.

Garrett Birkel began their education at Cabrillo College in 1995 and completed their studies in 1997. Afterward, they attended UC Santa Cruz from 1997 to 2000, where they studied Computer Science. No degree information was provided.
