Cal Smith - Gphr

Cal Smith - GPHR has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2005, Cal worked as the Director of Global HR Systems at Maxtor Corporation, where they led the development and implementation of the company's global HR framework and systems. Cal then moved on to Sterling Commerce in 2007 and served as the Sr. Director of Global Programs & Deployment, overseeing large-scale global HR initiatives and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

In 2008, Cal joined Trizetto Group Inc. as the Director of Human Capital Management, where they provided HR support for the Engineering and IT functions and advised executives on employee issues, policies, and workforce planning. Cal later joined Mincom in 2009 as the Director of Human Resources for North America, where they provided strategic vision and operational direction for HR and led recruiting efforts for US and Canadian operations.

Cal's experience at IBM from 2012 to 2020 saw him holding the position of Associate Partner and Senior Solutions Consultant in the Talent & Engagement practice. Cal worked closely with client executives to develop HR solutions and deploy end-to-end operating models using cognitive and cloud solutions. Cal also introduced shared services approaches to drive HR transformation.

From 2020 to 2021, Cal served as the Vice President of HR Operations at The Trade Desk, where they developed the overall People Operations strategy and managed a team responsible for developing the Workday eco-system and driving people analytics and global operations capabilities.

In 2021, Cal joined Beth Israel Lahey Health as a Business Transformation and Change Management Leader. Cal collaborated with the CHRO to strategize and implement change management activities for HR, IT, Finance, and Supply Chain functions as the organization underwent a business transformation and integrated multiple hospitals into a consolidated health system.

Most recently, Cal started working at Lumentum in 2022 as the Vice President of GBS Transformation. In this role, they are responsible for strategizing, developing, and implementing the global business services transformation office and activities for multiple functions, including HR, IT, Finance, Customer Care, and Supply Chain.

Throughout their career, Cal has also taken on consulting engagements, providing HR program execution, business transformation, change management, and technology implementation services for various companies.

Cal Smith - GPHR has a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Colorado State University, which was obtained from 2012 to 2014. They also hold a Certification in Global Professional Human Resources from HRCI, completed in 2007. In addition, Cal Smith completed 111 credits in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Phoenix between 2001 and 2005. They acquired a Project Management Certification from AT&T in 2000. Furthermore, Cal Smith had training and experience in Medical Technology Laboratory Sciences during their service in the United States Armed Services from 1982 to 1985. Cal Smith also possesses multiple additional certifications from IBM, including being an IBM Be Equal Ambassador and obtaining certifications in Disruptive HR in a Cognitive Era - Essentials, IBM Garage Method for Cloud Explorer, IBM Automation Practitioner, and Senior Solution Manager.
