Jonathan Gelberg

Lead Optics Scientist at Lumus

Jonathan Gelberg has a strong background in optics and physics, with a focus on research and development. Jonathan started their career at Elbit Systems Ltd as a System Engineer and Electro-optics Designer, where they worked on various projects for military applications and provided consultation to different divisions. Jonathan then moved on to Kerenix Networks Inc, where they worked as an Electro-optics Physicist, designing and characterizing optical components for a DWDM Optical Communications System. After that, Gelberg joined LYNX Photonic Networks as a Senior Physicist, leading multiple projects and performing optical characterization using Labview software. Jonathan then worked at VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies Ltd as a Project Manager and Physicist, overseeing the optical aspects of laboratory pre-production and conducting optical analysis using Zemax Optical Design Software. Gelberg's most recent role was at Lumus Ltd, where they started as an Optics Development Manager and eventually became the Lead Optics Scientist. In this position, they managed the Optics R&D group, fostered customer relationships, and worked on continuous improvement of the technology. Jonathan also played a key role in recruiting and assembling the R&D team, and was involved in all stages of product development, from concept to production.

Jonathan Gelberg completed a Bachelor's Degree in Physics with Honours from UCL between 1992 and 1995. Jonathan then pursued a Master's Degree in Applied Optics, earning an MSc Degree and the Diploma of Imperial College from Imperial College London from 1995 to 1996. Additionally, they obtained a certification called Msc DIC from Imperial College London, although the specific month and year are not provided.
