Tiago Dias has extensive experience in journalism and media, currently serving as Deputy Arts Editor and Reporter at Lusa since May 2011, covering a range of topics including politics and arts. Prior roles include Research Assistant at Universidade do Minho, where Tiago collected data on Media Education and Literacy, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief at JornalismoPortoNet. Tiago also worked as a Consultant for the International Crisis Group, providing data on drug trafficking, and as a Portuguese language vetter for Human Rights Watch. Tiago's career began with an internship at Público, where critical coverage during the Israel-Hezbollah conflict was achieved. Tiago holds an MSc in International Politics from SOAS University of London and a Licenciatura in Journalism and Communication Sciences from Universidade do Porto.

LUSA operates since 1987 and is today the biggest news agency in the Portuguese language worldwide. Lusa was formed as a merge from 2 previous agencies (ANOP and ANI ). Although LUSA is owned in 50,15% by the state, 6 (six) private organizations control the rest of the capital; the annual revenues are around 17 million Euros. LUSA holds bureaus in all Portuguese district capitals and is present in 21 countries: bureaus in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau), Praia (Cape Verde), Luanda (Angola), Maputo (Mozambique), Dili (East Timor), Macau (China), Madrid (Spain) and Brussels (Belgium); and correspondents in Berlin, London, Paris, São Paulo, Brasília, Johannesburg, Toronto, New York, California, and Beijing. LUSA is a co-founder of EPA (European Photo Association) and provides worldwide photo coverage with an average of 2.000 photos a day.
