Umar Al-Shangiti has extensive work experience in project management and engineering roles within the mining and petrochemical industries. Umar has held positions such as Vice President, Strategic Projects & Infrastructure at Maaden, Operational & Maintenance Readiness Director at Maaden Fertilizer Company, and Downstream Operation Director at Maaden Waad Alshamal Phosphate Company. Umar has also served as a Material Handling & Logistics Operation Manager, Procurement, Contracts & Supply Chain Director, and Logistics and Supply Chain Manager at Maaden Waad Alshamal Phosphate Company. Prior to this, they worked as a Power Plant Project Manager and Staff Project Engineer at Maaden, and as a Project Engineering Section Head at Sahara Petrochemicals. Umar began their career as an Inspection Engineer at Aramco.

Umar Al-Shangiti completed a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals from 1997 to 2002. Umar then pursued an EMBA in Business Administration at PMU from 2010 to 2012. Continuing their education, Umar participated in the Senior Leadership Program at Roux Consulting and the Harvard Business Program focusing on Ma'aden business excellence in 2018 and 2019. Umar also attended the Crotonville Alumni Leadership, Future & Culture (LFC) program in 2019, specializing in Organizational Leadership.
