Discipline Head, Content Design at Made Tech

Melanie Cannon has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Melanie is currently working at Made Tech as the Discipline Head of Content Design since February 2023. Prior to this, they were the User-centred Design Principal (content design) at Made Tech from July 2022 to February 2023.

Before joining Made Tech, Melanie worked as the Human-centred Design Lead at the UK Health Security Agency from November 2021 to July 2022. Melanie also held various positions at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), starting as the Lead Content Designer from November 2015 to July 2017, and then progressing to become the Head of Content Design from July 2017 to November 2021.

Melanie has freelance experience as well, having worked as a Content Editor for the National Trust from January 2015 to November 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Editor for the National Trust Magazine from December 2013 to December 2014.

Melanie'searlier career includes roles at JustGiving as a Content Manager from April 2010 to November 2013, and at The Sunday Times as a Reporter. At The Sunday Times, they started as a Trainee Reporter from July 2006 to August 2007, and then transitioned to the role of Reporter for special supplements from August 2007 to April 2010.

Melanie's work experience began with a role as an Editorial Producer at edpic from August 2005 to June 2006.Overall, their experience reflects a strong background in content design, user-centered design, and journalism.

Melanie Cannon completed their education at two different institutions. From 1994 to 2001, they attended Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, where they obtained 4 A levels with excellent grades of 4 A grades. Later on, from 2001 to 2004, they enrolled at the University of Oxford, where they pursued and successfully obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English.
