Mats Johansson

Mats Johansson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Mats started their career in 1999 as a freelance graphic designer, motion designer, and illustrator at Rabbit Inside, where they worked with clients such as SVT, Jarowskij, DN, and Dagens Industri. In 2003, they briefly served as a University Lecturer at Blekinge Institute of Technology. From 2004 to 2005, they worked as a Freelance Writer for PLAYER1 Magazine (IDG).

In 2006, Mats joined LEVEL magazine (RESET Media) as a Freelance Writer, a role they held until 2011. Mats then transitioned to the gaming industry and joined King in 2007, initially as a Game Artist. Here, they worked on web-based Flash games for the skill gaming site king.com and produced approximately 15 titles.

Moving up the ladder, Mats took on various roles within King, becoming an Art Director/Lead Artist in 2010 and contributing to the original Candy Crush Saga team. Mats also played a vital role in laying the foundation for the "Saga" format, primarily on Facebook but also testing the mobile market. Mats then worked as an Art Director/Art Manager from 2013 to 2019, assuming bigger responsibilities and managing both projects and teams. Mats'sduties included project management, line management, stakeholder communication, and compiling product gate documentation.

In 2020, Mats transitioned to Popcore as an Art Director before joining mag interactive later in the same year.

Mats Johansson obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Graphic Design & Illustration from Konstfack. Mats'seducation in this field was completed between 1998 and 2003.
