Peter McPherson

Peter McPherson, CEAP, is a seasoned professional in the field of counseling and employee assistance programs, currently serving as a Senior EAP Consultant at Magellan Health for Memorial Sloan Kettering since January 2023. With extensive experience as a therapist at First Step Counseling since September 2014, Peter provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families, while also managing treatment and leading group sessions for clients referred by the NJ Intoxicated Driver Resource Center. Prior roles include a significant tenure at Humana from 2007 to 2023, where Peter managed clinical and administrative operations and led a team of eight, as well as serving in various consulting and counseling capacities. Peter's early career features roles as a psychotherapist in private practice and vocational counselor at both Lower East Side Service Center and Samaritan Village. Peter holds an MSED in Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College and an MA in Psychology from The New School.
