Arumugam Kalaikannan

Arumugam Kalaikannan is a Lead Software Engineer specializing in localization and computer vision at Magic Leap since June 2018. With a strong background in developing algorithms for challenging indoor environments, Arumugam has focused on both efficient localization methods using deep learning and real-time incremental 3D object recognition. Prior experience includes a role as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Florida, where Arumugam worked on computer vision algorithms for agricultural applications, and several positions at Soliton Technologies, tackling image segmentation and object recognition through various techniques. Early career experience as a Commissioning Engineer at ABB involved testing Flexible AC Transmission Systems. Arumugam holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology.
