Position Overview

The Corporate Credit Research Analyst will work alongside the Alternative Credit & Fixed Income investment team, based in our Evanston office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative fundamental credit analysis on a variety of companies and industries.
  • Maintain and arbitrate corporate financial data provided from multiple data sources, particularly as companies report new financial results, change their capital structure, and undergo material corporate events.
  • Perform fundamental credit analysis on a variety of global corporate credits, including probability of default, pro-forma liquidity and recovery analyses. Be able to present analysis directly to the portfolio manager and the investment team.
  • Help improve the fundamental corporate research process and database, maintained in Microsoft SQL, Python and Excel. Analyst will be given projects in between earnings cycles to enhance system efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to immerse oneself in financial and market data
  • Some familiarity with a variety of market data providers, particularly Bloomberg and Capital IQ
  • Ability to navigate and interpret cash flow statement, balance sheet, income statement and the notes to financial statements
  • Understanding of credit analysis, including familiarity with liquidity and recovery analysis
  • Familiarity with Python coding, particularly with Pandas dataframes
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, self-disciplined and entrepreneurial
  • Ability to work in pressure situations with short deadlines
  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, computer science or economics from accredited university
  • CFA (Levels I or higher) and/or CPA is a bonus
  • Python coding language
  • Financial analyst, consulting, research, automation, or auditing background
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
