Andrew MacLean serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Maine Medical Association since January 1999, previously holding the roles of Deputy Executive Vice President & General Counsel. MacLean was the Mayor of Gardiner, Maine from January 2007 to January 2013 and worked as a Senior Attorney at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine from August 1996 to December 1998. Earlier experience includes positions as an Attorney at the Law Offices of Doyle & Nelson and Assistant Legal Counsel in the Office of the Governor of Maine. MacLean also served as a Communications-Electronics Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 1984 to May 1988. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law from the University of Maine School of Law, a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Health Policy & Management from the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from Duke University. Additionally, MacLean completed a Professional Medical Coding Curriculum certificate from the American Association of Professional Coders.
