Sr. Director - Data Center Business Development at Mainspring Energy

Brent Ness has extensive work experience in the energy industry. Brent started their career as a Global Application Engineer at Cummins Inc. in 2004. Brent then worked as a Global Project Leader, Technical Project Leader, and Controls Engineering Manager, where they focused on project management, reducing costs, and integrating new technology. In 2009, they transitioned into Product Planning & Management, where they improved the development and marketing strategies for a $60M global controls product line. Later, as a Sr. Manager of Power Systems Product Planning, Brent led the organization's shift from selling individual products to promoting interconnected product lines. Brent'sinnovative thinking and ability to challenge stakeholders led to the development of Connected Power Systems. In 2013, they became the Global Data Center Segment Leader, creating a business line focused on backup power solutions for large data center providers like Google. Brent then moved on to become the Director of the Growth Office, where they researched and identified new product pathways for Cummins Inc. In 2014, Brent became the Director of Global Data Center Business, leading a global account management team to capture $400M in vertical market account sales. In 2019, they took on the role of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Business Leader, spearheading the development of a new clean-energy business line. Most recently, Brent joined Mainspring Energy as the Sr. Director of Data Center Business Development.

Brent Ness earned their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from St. Cloud State University from 1999 to 2004. Later, from 2008 to 2011, they pursued a Masters in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business, specializing in Business Administration.
