Lisa Swinney has a solid work experience in the field of marketing and finance. Lisa started their career as a Loan Officer and Teller at Navy Federal Credit Union in 1996. During their time there, they created marketing materials, developed displays, and presented to large groups about the benefits of the Credit Union. In 2005, they joined HARBOR AREA POSTAL EFCU as a Loan Officer/ACH Coordinator/Collections/Marketing, and then moved on to work as a Graphic/Digital Media Designer at Mainstreet Credit Union from 2013 to 2016. From 2016, Lisa worked at Mainstreet Credit Union where they served as a Marketing Manager, responsible for design, copy, new product development, and managing a team of graphic designers and copywriters. In 2021, they became Vice President of Marketing at Mainstreet Credit Union, overseeing the company's strategic vision and establishing an in-house advertising department. Additionally, Lisa has also done freelance graphic design work.

Lisa Swinney has a diverse education history. In 1992, they attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for one year, focusing on Art Teacher Education. From 2008 to 2011, they pursued an AAS degree in Graphic Design at Johnson County Community College. In 2014, they furthered their education at the same institution and completed a Certificate program in Internet Marketing.
