Richard Ekkebus is a distinguished culinary professional with extensive experience in the hospitality industry. Presently serving as a Departmental Advisory Committee Member at the Department of Hospitality and Business Management of THEi since January 2024, Richard has held the role of Director of Culinary Operations and Food and Beverage at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group since February 2005. Richard is actively involved with the HK Sustainable Seafood Coalition and serves as President of Future Green/Food Made Good - Hong Kong until December 2024. Notable previous positions include Consulting Chef for both The Fifty 8 grill at Mandarin Oriental Pudong in Shanghai and KLM World Business Class, as well as Executive Chef at Sandy Lane and Royal Palm Beachcomber hotels, and Chef at Michelin-starred establishments Pierre Gagnaire and Restaurant Guy Savoy. Richard holds a Meesterkok/Masterchef degree in craftsmanship from SVH, completed in 2013.
