Paul Franz is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in data visualization and communications. Currently serving as a Special Adviser at the International Crisis Group, Paul leads initiatives in satellite imagery, cartography, and interactive mapping while developing innovative visual content to enhance research output. As a Senior Associate and Adjunct Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Paul contributes as a producer and lecturer, further enhancing digital communications strategies. Additionally, Paul is recognized as a Mapbox Trusted Developer, provides creative consultancy for the Atlantic Council, and actively engages as a co-organizer of GeoDC, a prominent geospatial meetup. Past roles include multimedia producer at Education Week, video journalist at Time Magazine, and reporting positions at the Pulitzer Center and Lancaster Newspapers. Paul holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Miami and a Bachelor's degree in Government and History from Millersville University.
