Ruben van der Neut began their work experience in 2008 as a Service Employee at De Haan Minerale Oliën B.V., where they provided car cleaning services and technical advice. Ruben then worked as a Salesman and Adviser at Construction Store at Aannemers & Restauratiebedrijf Verwoerd B.V. from 2009 to 2011. In 2012, they had a summer job as an Administrative Assistant at SPF Beheer, assisting in administrative data management.

In 2013, Ruben became an instructor at MooiWeer actie&organisatie until 2016. During that time, they also worked as a GIS Data Analyst and completed their final bachelor thesis at Hermess from 2016 to 2016. In this role, they researched the possibilities of using ship AIS to improve Copernicus ocean current models.

In 2014, Ruben took on the role of Hydrographic Survey Trainee at Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV, stationed in Kuwait. Ruben gained experience in land and water surveying and skills in PDS2000, BrisCAD, QINSy, and ArcGIS.

From 2018, Ruben has been the Head of Integration at MapGage and MarineGage, two Rotterdam-based SMEs specializing in digitizing field work processes and data representation. In this role, they oversee projects such as asset inspections in the maritime industry, road construction task reporting, drone image visualization, and municipality GIS layer validation.

Throughout their career, Ruben has developed a diverse set of skills and experiences in various industries, including construction, oil, travel, and geospatial technology.

Ruben van der Neut completed their education with a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Applied Marine Science from the University of Plymouth in the year 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Ocean Technology from the Marititiem Instituut Willem Barentzs, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Their education journey started at the A. Roland Holst College from 2007 to 2012, where they completed their Havo degree with a focus on NT & NG fields of study.
