We currently have an opening for a Refined Oil Lead. This position is not location specific and can be located remotely.

The Position:

The position of Refined Oil Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of the product supplied to our customers meets and exceeds their expectations.  This role requires a world-class expert in refining and concentration of omega-3 oils and derivatives across lab, pilot, and commercial scales. This role is crucial for providing internal subject matter expertise, supporting both internal projects and business development/sales initiatives. Responsibilities include assisting project teams with design and execution projects (new product development), technology transfer, system design, troubleshooting (at various scales), and providing technical support to customers. Additionally, support for applications development, competitive intelligence, and market strategy is part of the role as needed. 

Job Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited, to the following:

  • Technology Transfer: As the subject matter expert, support the development team as projects move from lab to pilot scale. This will involve being part of a cross functional team where your responsibilities include creation and implementation of technology transfer packages, internal/external system design and operations to process oil, including where needed to support engineering on capital projects.
  • Commercialization: Subject matter expert supporting the creation of a suitable supply chain (CMO and CAPEX projects are envisaged), completion of the technology transfer package, commissioning of equipment (CMO`s/CAPEX projects) and with the commercial team, refining the process to a detailed and defined SOP.
  • Customer/Business Development Support: In this role you will support the commercial team by providing technical support to the customers, including educating, and providing training on best-in-class practices to refine our algal oil ingredient.
  • Process Management: Adopt Mara processes and practices to prioritize, plan and execute activities related to work activities, which will involve travel to customer facilities, to deliver maximum value to Mara.
  • Applications Development: Provide support as requested to the applications development & commercial team, including competitive intel and market dynamics to support strategy development and project prioritization throughout the organization.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Expertise in Omega-3 Oil Production (refining and concentration): Comprehensive understanding in working with fatty acids, refining techniques, and concentration methods relevant to omega-3 oil production. Comprehensive understanding of the production processes for refined and concentrated omega-3 oils and derivatives, including knowledge of lab, pilot, and production-scale operations. Five to ten years’ experience required.
  • Project Management: Ability to support project teams with expertise, design, and execution of projects related to omega-3 oil production, from conceptualization to commercialization. Three to five years’ experience required.
  • Technology Transfer: Proven experience in technology transfer processes, including transferring innovations from lab-scale to pilot and production scales effectively. Five to ten years’ experience required.
  • Technical Support: Ability to provide technical support that may arise during production and refining processes or to customers, including educating them on refining practices and assisting with product development as needed. Three to five years’ experience required.
  • Applications Development: Familiarity with applications development related to omega-3 oils, including understanding competitive intelligence, market trends and customer needs.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Decision making & prioritization: Demonstrated ability to take on complex projects, prioritize in alignment with corporate goals and manage self and team to successfully timely outcomes. Minimum two to three years experience required.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to omega-3 oil production.
