James Powell has extensive experience in the mining and engineering sectors, currently serving as VP Regulatory and Government Affairs at Marathon Gold Corp. since January 2019, where James also held the position of Director of Environment and Stakeholder Engagement. Prior to this, James held various leadership roles at GEMTEC Ltd. as Senior Project Engineer, VP Mining, and Regional Manager for Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Area Manager for Alderon Iron Ore Corp. and General Manager for Cap-Ex Iron Ore. James began their career at Stantec and Jacques Whitford, focusing on mining and geotechnical engineering. Academic credentials include a Master of Engineering in Mining from McGill University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, complemented by an Executive Development Program from Queen's University.
