Shalin Mehta is a Platform Leader in Computational Microscopy at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub since July 2017, focusing on interdisciplinary research that integrates optics, inverse algorithms, machine learning, and biophysics to enhance the mapping of biological systems. Additionally, Shalin serves as an instructor at the Marine Biological Laboratory, teaching both the Deep Learning for Microscopy Image Analysis course and the long-standing Analytical & Quantitative Light Microscopy course. Shalin also held the position of Scientific Advisor at Arcadia Science, contributing to the study of functional states in embryos. Previous roles include HFSP Postdoctoral Fellow and Visiting Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory, where novel polarized fluorescence microscopes were developed, and a Research Associate at the National University of Singapore specializing in superresolution imaging. Shalin's educational background includes a PhD in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore and advanced degrees in ICT and Electronics.
