Tiago Carvalho

Tiago Carvalho has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and software development. Tiago is currently the Head of Engineering at Marker Learning, a position they started in July 2022. Prior to that, Tiago worked at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, where they held multiple roles including Engineering Manager from December 2020 to June 2022, and Software Engineer from March 2018 to December 2020. Tiago also worked at Google as a Software Engineer from January 2017 to March 2018. Tiago started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. Tiago then moved on to Portugal Telecom, where they worked as a Security Engineer, focusing on the development, analysis, and implementation of security solutions. Tiago also managed projects related to network management optimization and research projects at CMU-Portugal Partnership. Tiago spent a significant portion of their career at Portugal Telecom, working as a Full Stack Software Engineer from 2002 to 2008.

Tiago Carvalho holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, which they obtained in 2002. Tiago then pursued a Master's degree in Information Technology - Information Security from Carnegie Mellon University, starting in 2007 and completing it in 2008. Tiago further continued their studies at Carnegie Mellon University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2016.
