Ricardo Wissmann-Alves has a diverse work experience, starting in 1990 as a Systems Analyst at Alliance One. Ricardo later joined Thames Water in 2005, where they held various roles, including Innovation Metering Projects Manager and Principal Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist. In 2014, they joined CGI as a Water Sector SME, working on various projects related to the English Water Market. Ricardo then moved to Hitachi Consulting in 2017 as a Senior Manager - Water SME, where they focused on digital water solutions. Currently, Ricardo is the Head of IT Operations & Cyber at Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL), responsible for managing IT operations and infrastructure for both internal and external stakeholders.

Ricardo Wissmann-Alves obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry from Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul in 1989. Ricardo then pursued further education and received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Industrial Chemistry from the same university in 1997. In 1994, they completed a fine organic chemistry training program at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier. Continuing their academic journey, Ricardo earned a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in 2001. Ricardo later went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university in 2004. In addition to their formal education, Ricardo also participated in a working environment training program offered by Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA in 2002.

We are the market operator for the non-household water retail market in England. We provide independent insight and expertise on the value of water. Our role as market operator is to provide infrastructure, information and governance services to enable customers to switch retailer and for settlement to take place between wholesalers and retailers. Working closely with our water company members and stakeholders, we look for opportunities to improve and evolve the market to benefit non-household customers.
