Overview: 

Markley is New England’s largest and longest operating multi-tenant, mission-critical telecommunication, and data center with facilities in Boston and Lowell MA. Markley Properties is looking to add a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to the team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with direction from the Director of Design.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with the construction team in the design and construction of mission-critical data center environments. Responsible for coordination of mechanical designs with consulting team(s) and supporting mechanical and controls contractors. Support design effort to create and implement building masterplan.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Aid in creation of mechanical standards including master specifications for data center

  • Work with design consultants and operations teams to plan and implement new infrastructure and tenant

  • Provide engineering support for mechanical contractors during construction

  • Provide engineering/troubleshooting support for operations and controls

  • Aid in creation of a mechanical systems masterplan built for high level reliability and maximization of colocation data

  • Implement energy efficiency strategies for the mechanical

  • Review and provide direction for overall controls Provide support as necessary for implementation of controls systems with in-house controls team.

  • Provide support for commissioning process as

  • Work with Sales teams to respond to RFPs and site assessments as

  • Aid in mechanical layouts for colocation tenant install

  • Review CFD and hydronic models provide by consulting teams as

  • Perform factory witness testing for major equipment purchases as

  • Responsible for information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Markley Group information assets in accordance with the company's information security program

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in critical systems design & engineering

  • PE license preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience with Mechanical Systems (HVAC, CFD Analysis, Chillers, Pumps, CRAC/CRAH’s, AHU’s).

  • Mission Critical Data Center or other related design experience required.

  • Strong BMS/controls systems design

  • Proficient in Computer software’s including but not limited to AutoCAD, REVIT, Pipe-FLO Professional, Six Sigma, Microsoft Office 365, Procore

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including proficiency in both technical and business writing, is required.

  • Ability to work in BOTH Boston and Lowell facility locations.
