Renuka also held significant positions at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, including Chief of Medicine and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine. In these roles, they led clinical care, operations, education, and improvement initiatives for a prominent 185-bed hospital. Dr. Gupta's responsibilities included making high-stakes decisions to enhance patient outcomes and implementing campus-wide improvement strategies.
Furthermore, Dr. Gupta played a crucial role in the hospital's COVID-19 response. Renuka established a world-class unit for recovering COVID-19 patients, collaborated with local hospitals to transfer non-COVID patients during the pandemic, and built a network of partner hospitals and facilities to increase capacity. Renuka also served as the Physician Liaison for Operational Efficiency and Support, responsible for optimizing patient throughput and fostering efficient communication between providers, patients, and families.

Renuka Gupta MD, FHM, FACP completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. During their time at the college from 2005 to 2008, they focused on the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Afterward, in 2018, Renuka Gupta pursued Palliative care for Hospitalists and Intensivists at Harvard Medical School. Additionally, they enrolled in training programs in Emerging Women Executives in Health Care at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice at the International Ombudsman Association. In 2017, they studied the Scope of pain: safe and competent Opioid Prescribing Education at Boston University School of Medicine, Division of Graduate Medical Sciences.
