Renuka Gupta MD, FHM, FACP has a vast and diverse work experience spanning various prestigious institutions. Renuka currently holds the position of Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at Mary Washington Healthcare. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing and improving the quality of healthcare provided by the organization.

Prior to their current position, Dr. Gupta worked at Weill Cornell Medicine, where they served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Renuka also held the position of Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, where they played a pivotal role in improving patient flow, reducing length of stay, and increasing hospital throughput. Additionally, Dr. Gupta served as the Unit Medical Director, leading initiatives to achieve quality, discharge, and patient outcome targets.

Dr. Gupta's expertise extends beyond clinical medicine as they have been invited to speak at grand rounds at various academic medical centers across the country. Their discussions focus on addressing discrimination in the healthcare system and developing policies and interventions to effect change.

Renuka also held significant positions at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, including Chief of Medicine and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine. In these roles, they led clinical care, operations, education, and improvement initiatives for a prominent 185-bed hospital. Dr. Gupta's responsibilities included making high-stakes decisions to enhance patient outcomes and implementing campus-wide improvement strategies.

Furthermore, Dr. Gupta played a crucial role in the hospital's COVID-19 response. Renuka established a world-class unit for recovering COVID-19 patients, collaborated with local hospitals to transfer non-COVID patients during the pandemic, and built a network of partner hospitals and facilities to increase capacity. Renuka also served as the Physician Liaison for Operational Efficiency and Support, responsible for optimizing patient throughput and fostering efficient communication between providers, patients, and families.

Renuka Gupta MD, FHM, FACP completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. During their time at the college from 2005 to 2008, they focused on the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Afterward, in 2018, Renuka Gupta pursued Palliative care for Hospitalists and Intensivists at Harvard Medical School. Additionally, they enrolled in training programs in Emerging Women Executives in Health Care at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice at the International Ombudsman Association. In 2017, they studied the Scope of pain: safe and competent Opioid Prescribing Education at Boston University School of Medicine, Division of Graduate Medical Sciences. Moreover, Renuka Gupta acquired expertise in Mind Body Medicine from Harvard Medical School in 2015. Prior to their MD degree, they completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Medicine at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Finally, they gained knowledge in Foundations of Effective Leadership from the Society of Hospital Medicine.
