Maryland Aviation Administration
Jo Schneider has a diverse work experience in the field of architecture and design. In 1990, Jo started their own company, Jo Schneider Design LLC, where they specialized in large-scale public sculpture, public art commissions, and architectural design. They created sculptures for various locations in the US, Puerto Rico, China, and Dubai.
From 1999 to 2004, Jo worked as a Design Principal and Associate Vice President at RTKL, where they focused on commercial projects including retail, office, hotel, entertainment, and residential buildings. They were involved in projects in the US, Japan, Korea, and the Netherlands.
In 2006, Jo served as the Head of Commercial Architecture Design Studio at Carter Burgess, overseeing mixed-use, retail, office, residential, hospitality, and transportation projects. They also managed the design and planning department and led a team of 12 architects.
From 2008 to 2012, Jo was the Eastern Regional Design Principal at Jacobs Global Buildings NA. They were responsible for executive design review, business development, marketing, and architectural executive operations. They also worked on government projects, including high-security federal offices.
From 2012 to 2018, Jo served as the Art-in-Architecture Program Director at Jacobs Buildings & Infrastructure, managing and developing art programs for the Maryland Transit Administration's Red and Purple Lines Light Rail Systems.
Since 2018, Jo has been the Director of the Office of Architecture at the Maryland Aviation Administration.
Jo has also taught as an adjunct professor at Morgan State University and the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Jo Schneider AIA LEED AP completed a Masters of Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA from 1983 to 1986. Prior to that, from 1975 to 1979, they obtained a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from SUNY College, Alfred University, with a focus on Sculpture and Academics. In 1975, they also attended Maryland Institute College of Art, specializing in Ceramic Sculpture. Jo Schneider AIA LEED AP has additional certifications, including LEED AP Building Design + Construction from the U.S. Green Building Council, obtained in January 2002. They also hold a Maryland Architecture License, although the details regarding the institution, month obtained, and year obtained are not provided.

In 2018, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced that BWI Marshall Airport produces a total economic impact of $9.3 billion. The airport and visitors generate and support more than 106,000 jobs throughout Maryland and the region. BWI Marshall Airport was recognized as Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International World (ACI World) for 2020. Martin State Airport is an important transportation and economic development asset, located in Middle River, about 10 miles from downtown Baltimore. Martin State Airport serves and supports a broad variety of aviation services including corporate and private aviation activities, flight training, recreational, aviation maintenance, law enforcement, and military operations of the Maryland Air National Guard.
