Maryville College
Suzy Garner Booker joined Maryville College’s administration in August 2013 as vice president for institutional advancement.
Her responsibilities include institution-wide fundraising, including annual, major and planned giving; alumni relations; church relations; advancement services; prospecting; and donor stewardship. She supervises and leads staff members in the College’s Advancement Division.
Booker earned her bachelor’s degree and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1998 and earned a master’s degree from the University of York in the United Kingdom in 1999. In 2003, she earned a certificate in fundraising management from the Lilly School of Philanthropy.
Her career in fundraising began as the director of development for the Sigma Kappa Foundation in Indianapolis, Ind. Joining the development staff of Purdue University’s College of Science in 2004, she helped her department meet a $15 million philanthropic goal that was part of a seven-year, $1.5 billion comprehensive campaign for the university.
In 2006, she returned to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville as a director of development for the system-wide office of development, where she cultivated, solicited and stewarded major gift donors as a part of the university’s six-year $1 billion comprehensive Campaign for Tennessee. As director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences, she was responsible for directing the College’s top fundraising priorities, including the $7.2 million Tennessee Humanities Center and the School of Music’s $3.6 million All-Steinway Initiative.
