The Innovation Institute is a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) that supports the growth of the Massachusetts innovation economy. The Innovation Institute implements a unique model for the state to spur economic growth, working hand-in-hand with industry leaders, academic researchers, and policymakers. The Innovation Catalogue Development Intern will be responsible for developing the Innovation Catalogue, a database that will document past and ongoing projects from the Innovation Institute by collecting and centralizing information from past and current projects, covering nearly $100 million in investments in research, development and programming in the state’s technology economy over the past decade.

About You:

You're someone who is thoughtful about how data is organized and how it can be used, with excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills. You're a motivated and detail-oriented candidate, currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program or graduate program or post-secondary school with work experience, ideally within the fields of Information Systems, Business, Data Science, or a related discipline with a detail-oriented mindset. You are proficient or a fast learner for Microsoft Office 365 tools (Airtable familiarity a plus, but not required).

Your responsibilities include:

Building out the Innovation Catalogue of Programs:

  • Helping to develop and build out the Innovation Catalogue as a resource for use by the Innovation Institute to use as a resource for tracking current and past programs, the metrics from those programs, and capture key information about the programs and outcomes
  • Identify and document program details of completed investment contracts from across the Innovation Institute’s history
  • Review program reports to identify and record the relevant metrics from these programs

Development of Reporting for Ongoing Program:

  • Helping to develop the database for tracking details of existing programs as they progress, including metrics, progress reports, and timelines.

Additional Tasks:

  • Identify and produce reports from the cataloged data to inform a variety of audiences about the Innovation Institute’s investments, successes and catalytic impacts

You'll gain valuable experience in the following areas:

  • Develop strong data management skills using Airtable.
  • Hands-on exposure to the operational side of technology programs in diverse sectors including Quantum, AI/ML, Advanced Manufacturing, Nanotechnology, Robotics, FinTech, and many others.
  • Contribute to the development of a database that tracks over 15 years of the Innovation Institute’s investments to foster growth in emerging technology clusters in the Commonwealth.

The expected start date is early January 2025. The hired intern will work 20-40 hours per week.
