Staffan Friberg

Staffan Friberg has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of performance engineering and observability. Staffan is currently serving as the Director of Observability and Performance at Matillion since May 2022.

Prior to this, they worked at Medallia from January 2020 to May 2022, where they held the positions of Senior Manager Performance & Observability Engineering and Senior Staff Performance Engineer. In these roles, they led a globally distributed team responsible for performance and observability tools, successfully creating and executing on a vision for POE, reducing developer toil through automation, and leading technology migrations without service interruption.

Before Medallia, Staffan worked at Cloudera as a Performance Engineer from August 2015 to December 2016 and at Oracle in various roles from June 2008 to August 2015. Their roles at Oracle included Java Platform Performance Lead, Product Manager in the Java Platform Group, and Performance Team Lead.

In addition to their work at Medallia and Oracle, Staffan also served as the Oracle JDK Representative in OSG Java at the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation from August 2013 to August 2015. Prior to that, they were the JRockit JVM Representative in OSG Java at the same organization from March 2008 to May 2011.

Earlier in their career, Staffan worked as a Performance Team Lead and Performance Engineer at BEA Systems from February 2008 to June 2008, and as a QA Engineer at Appeal Virtual Machines from June 2001 to February 2002.

In 2002, Staffan founded Capere Development, a software development company, where they served as a Founder and Developer until 2006.

With their extensive experience in performance engineering and observability, Staffan Friberg has demonstrated leadership skills, successful project execution, and the ability to drive technological changes.

Staffan Friberg completed their education at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 1999 to 2005. During this time, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science.
