Lead Research Engineer at Matter Labs

Thomas Knauth has over 14 years of work experience in various research and engineering roles. Thomas is currently working at Matter Labs as a Lead Research Engineer since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Huawei as a Senior Research Engineer from September 2020 to April 2023, where they developed prototypes to improve the operating efficiency of Huawei's cloud infrastructure. Thomas also mentored junior colleagues, interns, and PhD students during their time at Huawei.

Before Huawei, Thomas worked at Intel Corporation as a Research Scientist from June 2017 to February 2020. In this role, they focused on research in the area of Intel SGX and led a project to integrate remote attestation with the Transport Layer Security (TLS) stack.

Thomas also has academic experience. Thomas worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Technische Universität Dresden from April 2015 to April 2017. Prior to that, they were a PhD Student at the same institution from October 2009 to December 2014. Thomas'sPhD research focused on energy-efficient cloud computing and involved collaborative software development on Linux using various programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, and shell scripting.

Thomas Knauth attended Technische Universität Dresden from 2009 to 2014, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science.
