Clinical Trial Lead at Mauna Kea Technologies

Kaela Leonard has been working in the medical field since 2005. Kaela began their career as a Resident Assistant and Teaching Assistant for the London Summer Program for Engineers at the University of Notre Dame. Kaela then moved on to become a Tutor in the Academic Services for Student Athletes and an Undergraduate Research Assistant. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Chemical Engineering Department, a Tutor in the Athletic Academics Office, and a Graduate Research Assistant at Mississippi State University. In 2013, they became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Michigan Technological University, and from 2014 to 2021, they held various roles at Seventh Sense Biosystems, including Clinical Research Manager, Clinical Research Scientist, Scientist, and Engineer. In 2017, they began teaching courses such as calculus 1, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus as an Adjunct Professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Most recently, in 2021, they became the Clinical Trial Lead at Mauna Kea Technologies.

Kaela Leonard has an extensive education history. Kaela obtained their High School Diploma from Thayer Academy in 2003. Kaela then attended the University of Notre Dame, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in both Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering in 2007. Kaela then attended Mississippi State University, where they earned their PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2009. Finally, they attended Michigan Technological University, where they earned their PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2012. Additionally, they have earned certifications in Human Research Curriculum: Biomedical Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative in 2010 and Biological Safety from M.D.-ERL in 2010.
