Makala Kusi Pharmd

Makala Kusi, PharmD, has a diverse range of work experience. Makala began their career as a Student Pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy in 2017, where they gained a strong foundation in pharmaceutical practices. Makala also had the opportunity to work as a Compounding Extern at Coram CVS/specialty infusion services and as a Product Development Extern at Optum, further expanding their knowledge in different areas of pharmacy.

In 2020, Makala took on roles as an Ambulatory Care Extern at AIDS Healthcare Foundation and as an Internal Medicine Extern at Riverside Health System. During these experiences, they evaluated medication appropriateness, recognized untreated health problems, and monitored patients' progress.

Makala also worked as a Community Pharmacy Extern at Walgreens in 2020, where they delivered Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services to patients, assessed medication therapy, and communicated with healthcare providers to optimize patient care.

In 2021, Makala pursued opportunities in business development, starting with an internship as a Business Development Intern at Talend. Makala prospecte dleads, collaborated within a team setting, and achieved exceptional performance metrics.

Makala then transitioned to a Sales Development Representative Fellow role at SV Academy, where they were selected in the top 2% of applicants for a program focused on preparing individuals for SDR roles in SaaS. Makala received rigorous training and developed essential sales development skills, using various communication channels and tools such as Salesloft, Salesforce, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Currently, Makala is working at Maven Clinic as a Business Development professional, where they are responsible for enterprise and payer growth. Makala'srole focuses on expanding the clinic's business opportunities and partnerships.

Through their diverse work experience, Makala has developed strong clinical knowledge, sales development skills, and business acumen, making their a well-rounded professional in the pharmaceutical industry.

Makala Kusi, PharmD, holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Hampton University. Prior to attending Hampton University, Makala completed their high school education at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. In addition to their academic achievements, Makala has obtained several certifications including the Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in May 2020, the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate from Red Cross Blood Services in October 2016, and the Virginia Board of Pharmacy Intern License from the Virginia Board of Pharmacy in October 2016. Makala also holds a Sales Development Representative certification from SV Academy.
